Tofu Taco Crumbles. Super Easy. Super Delicious. 🎉
Tofu has been one of my favorite swaps since adopting the Mediterranean pattern of eating. It's versatile, protein-packed, and takes on any flavor you give it. These Tofu Taco Crumbles are as easy as it gets: one block of tofu and a packet of your favorite taco seasoning. That's it!
They're perfect for taco night, on top of my baked tortilla chips as nachos, or make them the fourth ingredient in my favorite vegan taco.
If you're looking for another tofu recipe, I LOVE this fajita salad using the BEST low sodium fajita seasoning.
Not only is tofu a delicious substitution, but it's a nutritional wonder. I try to eat soy products every day to help keep my cholesterol low.
Remember how people used to tell you that tofu caused breast cancer and all kinds of issues for women? Totally fake news.
These claims have been debunked over. And over. And over.
🌱 Tofu + Breast Cancer: The Truth
For years, tofu got an unfair bad rap. The fear? Soy's natural compounds (isoflavones) look a bit like estrogen, so people worried they might "feed" breast cancer.
Here's what science actually shows:
✨ Isoflavones are weak mimics. Instead of acting like strong estrogen, they often block its effects.
✨ Populations with high tofu intake have lower rates of breast cancer. Decades of studies in Asia prove this.
✨ Survivors benefit too. Women with breast cancer who eat moderate soy have lower risk of recurrence.
✨ Big reviews confirm it. A 2023 analysis of nearly 50 studies found soy linked with reduced risk, not harm.
Bottom line: Tofu isn't dangerous, it's protective. It delivers complete protein, heart healthy fats, bone building minerals, and plant compounds that help shield against disease.
So pile it on your plate with confidence. 🥢

FAQ
If your family is new to tofu and still getting used to it, start by replacing half of your favorite taco meat with tofu crumbles. Keep increasing the amount of tofu until you've fully transitioned. Even replacing part of the meat has benefits.
Definitely. Mix chili powder, cumin, smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, and a pinch of cayenne.
Top Tip
You want the crumbles baked golden with a nice chewy texture. Avoid overbaking or you'll have tough, crunchy crumbles.
